1. Good question which is easily explained when we understand the cause of gender inequality. Since gender inequality is the result of discrimination, the solution to gender equality Is to remove barriers which create discrimination and ensure everyone has the same opportunity to before the law, in education, employment, housing, income etc.
2. Equity on the other hand, are corrective measures taken to address and redress the perceived gender gap. These measures address the causes of gender inequality and are meant to level the playing field. They target the needs of the underserved group and are often referred to as women, girls, disabled specific, depending on the group.
3. Interventions planned to address gender inequality must have activities which
address issues of discrimination (equality) as well as actions which are specific
to the needs of the disadvantaged group (equity).
